Last Remaining Seats
Remember simpler times when Hollywood special effects artists worked with brushes and latex rather than Avid software – and used real pyrotechnics and paid stunt men rather than CGI animation? Well get ready to jump in that time machine and go back to those halcyon days of old when Coke was “It” and movie popcorn didn’t cost ten dollars.
Curated by the Los Angeles Conservancy, Last Remaining Seats is a month-long festival of classic movies from that not so distant past and includes a ton of great films all showing in 35mm across several excellent downtown movie houses. If you weren’t already painfully aware of how fast time flies, this is the last week of the annual series, but you can still catch Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory at the Orpheum, and Raiders of the Lost Ark at the Ace. So grab those golden tickets and take a trip down memory lane. After all, “a little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men.”
