dineL.A. Restaurant Week 2019
June 30, 2019
Restaurant Weeks are a great way to get out into your city, explore some of your favorite establishments (while discovering a few new ones), and falling back in love with your love of food. If you happen to live around the Los Angeles luxury homes, you’d be doing yourself a disservice by missing out on dineL.A. Restaurant Week, which brings the best of the city’s offerings to the fore:
“dineL.A. Restaurant Week is a 15-day dining event that takes place twice a year and showcases Los Angeles as a premier dining destination while highlighting the diversity of culinary experiences L.A. has to offer. Enjoy special lunch and dinner menus at more than 400 restaurants. There are no tickets or passes required for dineL.A. Restaurant Week. Simply dine out at a participating restaurant, ask for the dineL.A. Restaurant Week menu, and try a new dish or enjoy an old favorite.”
And if it’s details you want, then you’re in luck. Today, we’ll be delving into the finer points of dineL.A., filling you in on the where and when, while also offering up a few tips that will help you take full advantage of this 15-day special event.
The When, Where, and What
dineL.A. Restaurant Week begins on Friday, July 12th, 2019, and lasts until Friday, July 26th, 2019. That’s 15 days worth of awesome dining experiences, across all the participating restaurants in LA (which we’ll be touching upon more in a bit). First, though, let’s talk about the deals that come with restaurant week. According to the dineL.A. Restaurant Week FAQ, “participating restaurants offer a special menu* for lunch and/or dinner guaranteeing a 20% minimum value.” Options include:
- Lunch (2+ Courses): $15, $20, $25, $35
- Dinner (3+ Courses): $29, $39, $49, $59
- Dinner (5+ Courses): $99+ (tasting menu)
There may be some variances, depending on the particular restaurant, and you’ll want to keep in mind that these prices exclude beverages, taxes, and gratuity. Still, though, it’s a pretty good deal, and should be giving you plenty of motivation to head on out into the wilds of LA to find which restaurants will fit your fancy. Speaking of which...
The list of Restaurants participating in dineL.A. Restaurant Week this year is massive. So much so that we can’t even cover every possible option in one go. What we can do, though, is call attention to a few options located right in DTLA, giving you a few choices for your shortlist in case you weren’t quite sure of where you should start.
24/7 at The Standard
The Standard is well-known as one of DTLA’s most stylish hotels, occupying the former headquarters of Superior Oil. Tucked within is their hotel restaurant, 24/7, which “specializes in organic, locally sourced comfort classics served all day, every day in a vibrant brasserie setting.” For restaurant week, they’ve got a tempting lunch menu planned, with choices like red fruit salad, shishito peppers, and porchetta flatbread. It should be your first stop if that “super fresh” taste is what you’re after.
Amante on East 9th Street is one of DTLA’s most happening Italian joints, with an emphasis on being a welcoming neighborhood spot, replete with a relaxing atmosphere and stellar customer service. They’ve got plenty of pizzas, pastas, and delectable desserts to go around. Their Restaurant week lunch offerings include starters like involtini de melanzane, two hearts salad, and verdure, along with main courses like finocchiona paninis, homemade cannelloni, and pizzeta allapera candita.
If you’re feeling like delicious Mexican cuisine, you’ll want to head to Bar Ama on West 4th Street. This establishment is well-regarded for their forward-thinking take on Tex-Mex offerings and an expansive menu of tequilas to choose from. It’s the “real deal,” but enhanced with some of the best and freshest ingredients available in the city, and you’ll get to catch a taste for yourself when you head over for restaurant week. Their lunch menu options include green cheese enchiladas, chicken milanesa tortas, breakfast tacos, and more, so you won’t be disappointed.
For some good old-fashioned American cuisine, you’ll want to check out Blacksmiths over on Winston Street. This combination bar and restaurant is the expert in decadent menu options, and serves them in a setting that rivals even the greatest of modern establishments, filled with glamour, expansive spaces, plenty of natural light, and marvelously crafted furniture. It all adds to the experience, and when you head over during restaurant week for lunch you have your pick of options like the bacon truffle mac & cheese, pork belly sushi, BBQ pork ribs, and several others.
Making the Most of dineL.A. Restaurant Week
While it’s certainly possible to roll up to your restaurant of choice unannounced and score a table for a meal deal, you’ll have much more success if you make some advanced reservations. You can do this through the dineL.A. Restaurant Week website, or by calling up the restaurant you want to visit directly.
Beyond making reservations, though, it pays to be prepared. We’ve already highlighted a few options for you, but whatever restaurants you decide to hit, make sure you do your homework so you know what their specialties are, what they’ll be offering for their restaurant week menus, and what the best times to visit are.
In addition, you’ll want to make sure you arrive with an appetite and enjoy yourself. Restaurant week is as much about making connections in the community as it is about eating great food, so be sure to get out there and have a great time!
